We know that when it comes to your children, safety comes first. That’s why we’ve put clear, responsible policies in place to make sure our photography sessions are safe, respectful and child-focused.
At the kindy/childcare centre/school
We work hand-in-hand with childcare staff to ensure a safe and supportive environment for photography.
Our staff are always within sight of a centre staff member.
We photograph in open areas like the playground or centre-approved rooms.
We only use professional photography equipment to photograph children.
We never, ever use personal devices such as mobile phones to take photos of children.
We never enter private areas, including children's bathrooms.
We are happy to show centre staff photos on our cameras at any time.
Our staff do not change children's clothes with the exception of removing jumpers or other outer layers. If a child needs a change of clothes, we ask centre staff to do this.
We respect a child’s wishes on photo day. If a child is uncomfortable or doesn’t want to participate, we don’t pressure them to be photographed.
Class/group photos
When completing the photo consent form, families can choose whether or not their child’s face and name appear in the class photo. Children can still be photographed individually and have their own gallery without being included in a class photo.
Class photos include children’s names so parents can check name spelling before ordering. Class photos are only available to families from that centre.
For all centres:
We create a 'headshot' class photo that includes a headshot of all children and staff members in each group.
For kindergartens and some centres:
We also take a 'traditional' class photo where children sit together.
How we store & share photos
Your family’s privacy is important to us, and we’ve put strong systems in place to keep your images safe.
Camera memory cards remain the property of BKPhotos, and images are only transferred to BKPhotos-managed systems.
Online galleries are hosted on secure Australian-based servers and Amazon S3 (Australia).
Parents receive a unique access code and can only view their child’s photos and class photos.
When completing the photo consent form, families can choose whether BKPhotos securely retains a backup of their images or deletes them six months after the photo date.

Every person working at BKPhotos understands that child safety is non-negotiable.
All staff hold a current Blue Card (Working With Children Check).
Every team member is required to read and follow these child safety policies.
We are focused on creating a positive experience for every child.
Consent and Privacy
Written consent must be provided before we photograph a child. Families can separately choose whether their child is included in class/group photos. We cannot photograph any child without consent.
We never post photos publicly without written consent from parents. When we have permission to share a child’s image publicly, we never include the child’s name or identify the centre they attend.
